Straight Schedule Week

7th Grade Students Eat First This Week

 

1.         Students there are 30 extra yearbooks that were sent to us this year.  If you still want a yearbook bring $40 cash to room 230.

 

2.         There will be a yearbook signing party Tuesday during 6th period in the cafeteria.  Tickets will be on sale for $2 during recess at the Student Store and during lunch behind Ms. Dinsmore’s office.  All funds raised will be used to purchase prizes for end of year activities (7th and 8th grade activities).  Students may attend the acivity if they have purchased a yearbook or bring a notebook to school that day.

 

3.         Attention 7th grade students!  If you are interested in Color Guard, tryouts will be Monday – Thursday from 2-3 pm in room 320.  Any questions please see Mrs. Ruiz.

 

4.         ALL LIBRARY BOOKS ARE NOW OVERDUE. TURN THEM IN TO CLEAR YOUR RECORD IN THE LIBRARY! We are missing many textbooks. Please make sure you have returned these expensive textbooks to clear your record. ALL LIBRARY BOOKS ARE NOW DUE! (You may keep and use the class sets of books checked out in your Language Arts classes until your teacher instructs you to turn them in. However, you are still responsible for returning or paying for any of these books by the last day of school!) Thank you for your help in getting all the library materials returned immediately. 5.         Students who are attending Highland High School must turn in their registration packets to Highland NOT Ms. Dinsmore.

 

6.         All 8th grade students who are participating in the graduation ceremonies must purchase a gown from Ms. Dinsmore.  Gowns used in previous years, even last year, have a slight difference in color and should not be worn.

 

7.         Attention 8th grade students: Last Day to purchase graduation gowns (outside of Mrs. Dinsmore's office) Wednesday the 20th of May.  The gowns will be $18 cash only.  Don't wait until the last minute to buy your gown.  If you are unsure if you are graduating and decide to buy a gown, do not open the gown as refunds cannot be made once the gown is opened. 

 

8th Grade Graduation Information

 

DATE OF GRADUATION: Thursday, May 28, 2009

 

TIME:   1:00 pm – Graduates should arrive no later than 12:30 pm.

                  Graduation will be over by 2:00 pm.  (Chipman is on a rotation with 4 other BCSD schools.  This year is our turn for one of the afternoon time slots.)

 

PLACE:   Rabobank - Bakersfield Convention Center

                 1001 Truxtun Avenue

CLOTHING:  Graduation gowns will be worn.  All 8th grade students have been sized and the gowns are on order.  We will begin to sell the gowns in May as we get closer to graduation day.  Please remove wrinkles from the gown.  Nice clothing and shoes are recommended under the gowns.  Dresses and/or slacks are appropriate.  No beach type flip-flops are to be worn.  Hats, gloves, purses and/or corsages do not fit the type of graduation exercises planned.  Also, due to time and space limitations, no flowers or gifts during the ceremony please.  Absolutely, NO BALLOONS are allowed in the Convention Center.

 

TICKETS:   Each graduating student will receive six (6) graduation tickets at graduation practice on Wednesday, May 27th.  On that afternoon (May 27th) additional tickets will be available in front of the cafeteria beginning at 2:30 to 3:30 pm on a first come basis.  Tickets cannot be held in the lobby by ticket takers.  Only those having a ticket will be admitted.  Children over the age of three (3) will need a ticket.

Students are not to bring backpacks to school the last week of school – a yearbook and a pen are all that you will need.

  • Students are not to have water balloons or throw water/liquid/etc. on each other to, from, or while you are at school.
  • Any behavior resulting in a suspension will result in missing end-of-year activities up to and including the graduation ceremony.  Please be on your best behavior as we finish the year strong.

1.         Lost and Found Items in the cafeteria will be donated to Goodwill by Friday May 15th.  If you have lost an item please check the cafeteria during your recess and lunch.

Straight Schedule Week

7th Grade Students Eat First This Week

From the Principal:

Please allow me to thank you for the effort that you recently made in taking STAR tests and also for the great effort made in having such fantastic attendance during the testing window.  As you know, if you had perfect attendance during the testing window you will receive a ticket to the BBQ on Friday.  At the beginning of lunch recess you will see lines indicating where to line up (7th grade line and 8th grade line out on the track area), your cooperation and patience will be appreciated as you line up, eat, and “hang out!”  Also appreciated will be your help in keeping Chipman neat and clean.  Please dispose of your trash when you are finished eating.  Again, great job this year - we are proud of you!

 

Please remember that the length of your shorts/skirts must be arms length at your sides.  When wearing tights under your clothes the item on the top, the shorts/skirt must follow the arms length rule.  You may not wear shorts/skirts on the top of tights that are too short to be worn to school.  Tank tops need to have at minimum 2 inches on the straps and provide proper coverage of undergarments.  When wearing sandals make sure they have a back strap, no flip flops.

2.         Library is closed today because of our visiting author, Jeff Stone. Students will attend assemblies with Language Arts Class either 1st period, 3rd period, or 6th period. Detention room will be held in the library for those students not attending the assembly. Coverage for the detention room will be Romo 1st period, Howell  3rd period, and Green  6th period. Thanks in advance for your good Chipman welcome to Mr. Stone and your good behavior during the assembly. We have 4 TIGER paperback books left to sell. Books are $6.00 each. See Mrs. Heisey in the library.

 

3.          Attention Students and Teachers:

Panda Express is getting involved with Chipman fundraisers and would like to donate 20% of all money made between 4:00 and 8:00 p.m. on Thursday May 7th.  Please present the flyer handed out during advisory at time of purchase and you will be donating money to Chipman.  Extra flyers are available in the office.  Go Chargers!

 

4.         Attention 7th graders:  It is time to sign up or try out for one of Chipman's award winning choirs.  Concert choir sign ups will be the last five minutes of lunch Tuesday and Wednesday of this week.  Show Choir and Treble choir try outs are Tuesday and Wednesday after school.  The try out is to sing "Happy Birthday" or "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star."  The try out is first come first served, and it only takes 1 to 2 minutes.  Don't miss out on next year's trip to Magic Mountain.

 

5.         There are exactly 14 yearbooks left and there are about 650 students who still have not purchased a yearbook. As soon as these 24 yearbooks are gone there will be no more, so if you really want a yearbook this year you should hurry and buy one before they are gone.  $40.00 CASH ONLY sold in room 230.

 

6.         Attention Stand Strong Students: Ms. Dinsmore has a new schedule for your Saturday 5-9-09 event.  Please pick one up ASAP.

 

7.         Attention 8th grade students: graduation gowns will be sold outside of Mrs. Dinsmore's office on Wednesday the 6th and Thursday the 7th of May.  The gowns will be $18 cash only.  Don't wait until the last minute to buy your gown.  If you are unsure if you are graduating and decide to buy a gown, do not open the gown as refunds cannot be made once the gown is opened.

 

8.         Attention 8th grade students: All blue progress reports are to be turned into Ms. Dinsmore.  This is the only way to monitor if you are eligible to graduate.

 

9.         Softball practice Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 2-3 pm.

You will attend one of his assemblies with your Language Arts class. All books are $6.00 except the CRANE which is $5.75. You may purchase the books with cash on your free time. Remember to bring your book on Wednesday, May 6, to be autographed by the author.
