Just a reminder: Hats or beanies are not allowed to be worn on campus.  If your sweater/sweatshirt or jacket has a hood attached, you may use them when you are outside but must be removed indoors.

 

  1. Henry Greve Contestants meet Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in room 220.  You will be doing research in the computer lab from 2-3.
  2. There will NOT be tutoring the week of Jan. 9-13.  Math and ELA tutoring will resume on Wednesday, January 18th.
  3. Sports games against Compton today January 11, 2012 at Compton at 2:45 pm.

From the Principal:

Each week from now until Winter break your name will be automatically entered for a chance to win an iPod Shuffle or iPod Touch - IF you have perfect attendance that week.  We will have a separate contest on Friday Dec. 23 as well – we will draw an extra name from either the 7th grade contestants or 8th grade contestants depending on which grade level had the best attendance from Nov. 29-Dec 23 (four weeks). For the special 7th vs. 8th grade drawing, we will compile all of the names entered from the previous four weeks and include them in the special drawing.  Good luck!

 

From the Principal: It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!  This week December 19 – 23, 2011 students may wear holiday hats to school.  The only exception is: No bells, no blinking lights and if your classroom teacher asks that you remove them during class you are to do so.  Hats will be taken if rules are not followed and parents will need to pick up the items.

  1. Choir Students: Please come ready (dressed) for pictures on Wednesday 1221/11).  There will not be time to change before pictures.  You will be able to change into regular school clothes after pictures are taken.  PLEASE COME PREPARED!
  2. Christmas Canned Food Drive.  This will be an advisory competition.  The advisory that collects the most food items will be rewarded with a hot chocolate and doughnut feast.  The contest will begin Wednesday 12/14 and end on Tuesday 12/21.  Suggested foods include: Any canned goods, peanut butter in plastic container, jams and jellies in plastic containers, packaged rice, beans, pasta, or boxed mac and cheese.
  3. All Chipman Students: Didn’t get a chance to purchase a t-shirt or sweatshirt?  See Mrs. Jacobs in Room 920 to see what’s in stock.
  4. Yearbook Sale! $40 CASH ONLY! Mrs. Blomberg room 620 until December 23, 2011.  You may also buy them online at www.jostensyearbook.com.  Personalization is still available online only at an extra cost.  We have sold out for the past 3 years so buy one to guarantee you get one.
  5. 8th grade students:  Now is your chance to have a special message from your parents in the yearbook. The yellow information sheet must be filled out and received before December 23, 2011.  The cost is $15 and must be returned to Mrs. Blomberg room 620.
  6. There will be a brief meeting 12/20/11 in room 220 at 11:55 about the Henry Greve's Speech Contest. 
  7. There will NOT be tutoring the weeks of Dec. 19-23 or Jan. 9-13.  Math and ELA tutoring will resume on Wednesday, January 18th.
  8. Wednesday 12/21/11 Group pictures. Memo to follow with groups and times.
  9. Sports Games Thursday 12/20/11 against Curran at Curran 2:45 pm.

Soccer practice Tuesday and Wednesday.  Soccer game on Monday 12/12 against Washington at Chipman.  You may attend a sports game here at Chipman if... You attend with your parents.  You have a 4.0 card.  You have at least a 3.0. GPA requirements will be checked at the gate prior to you entering the field to watch the game. 
  3. All Chipman Students: Didn’t get a chance to purchase a t-shirt or sweatshirt?  See Mrs. Jacobs in Room 920 to see what’s in stock.
  4. Battle of the Books meeting in Room 920 at lunch on Friday, December 16.  Be prepared to discuss at least one of the books on the list.  AR Tests are now available in the library.  See Mrs. Jacobs or Mrs. Grant if you need help logging on.
  5. All Students:  If you have lost a jacket, sweater, clothing, etc.  Please check the cafeteria stage for these items before school or during your lunch hour.  Any unclaimed items will be donated if not claimed by Wednesday December 14, 2011.

  3. Students attending DC/NY: There are limited number of Chipman t-shirts and sweatshirts left.  If you haven’t purchased one already, please see Mrs. Jacobs in Room 920 immediately.  T-shirts are $15 and sweatshirts are $30.
  4. Students are NOT to stand (loiter) near the north and northeast fence area of the track or sit or stand on the steps near the northeast corner of the field (nearest the Highland baseball field).  Any one seen in these areas will be subject to disciplinary action.  Students are to stay off metal bars to avoid any risk of injury from falling.
  5. Students are to stay on the north side of the track area during your lunch recess unless you are participating in noon sports on the field.  No one is allowed to stand near the goal area or where the sport is played, this will avoid all risk of injury to bystanders.
  6. Students are NOT to climb any fence or wall to retrieve any sports ball.  Please let anyone on yard supervision and the sports ball will be retrieved at a later time in the day.
  7. 7th grade history/social studies tutoring on Wednesdays at the beginning of lunch in room 970.

  9. Migrant from 2-3 in room 660 Mondays and Wednesday.
