From the Principal: The Chipman Student Council will once again sponsor a walk-a-thon in support of the American Cancer Society and their efforts to find a cure for cancer. Many of us on campus have a friend or family member whose life has been affected by cancer; this will be a great way for us to show our support of them and help “fund a cure.” Our event will be held this Friday following our STAR picnic. We will have an activity-day schedule and any student with a ticket will be able to attend the walk-a-thon during the second 6th period. Tickets will be sold beginning Wednesday for $3.00. Water and La Rosa ice cream will also be sold for $1.00 – all proceeds will be delivered to The Bakersfield chapter of the American Cancer Society. Chipman students (and staff) have donated thousands of dollars to the ACS over the last 8 years – bring your $3.00 and help support of a good cause. (There will be no GPA restrictions for this event. Students who choose to not participate will remain in a classroom).
Students the STAR testing window is from April 24th through May 3rd. The requirements for getting a ticket to the STAR picnic: The first requirement is very simple - you must have perfect attendance on your test days (if you have to take a make-up test – then you will not qualify for your ticket). The second requirement is also very simple – you must not be suspended from school at any time from NOW until the picnic (date currently set as Friday, May 4). The STAR picnic will again be a fun lunch to eat outside with your friends. We will have additional food and drink and this year we will add a new twist - your STAR picnic ticket will be used in a drawing for your chance to win some very cool prizes! Go Chargers!
Walk-a-thon ticket sales procedure. A list of eligible students will be given to your advisory teacher. The cost of the ticket is $3.00. Make sure your name is on your ticket. Do not lose your ticket, replacements will not be given and you will need your ticket to be dismissed from your 6th period class on Friday.
