This Week at Chipman: February 25, 2008

  • 8th graders eat first this week.
  • Oral Language meets every Tuesday and Thursday in room 660 at 11:45 am
  • Migrant tutoring Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in Room 440 from 2:00- 3:00.
  • After School Tutoring Tuesday and Thursday – Rooms 620, 630, 640, 650, 670, and 680.
  • Lunchtime math tutoring in room #620 on Wednesdays.  All grades welcome.
  • February 27-29, 2008 – Heights/Weight/Blood Pressure Screening (PE Rooms)
  • Attention moms, dads and grandparents:  Remember spending Saturdays at the majestic Fox Theater when you were a kid watching movies?  Now your kids can see the Cat in the Hat movie at the Read Across America event sponsored by the Bakersfield Elementary Teachers Association.  March 1st from 11:00 to 2:00 at the Fox.  Tons of funny fun with Green Eggs and Ham, photos with The Cat in the Hat, face painting, the book walk, prizes, games and much more!  This day of fun is FREE, but seating is limited and you must get your ticket in advance at the Fox box office, Russo's Book stores, or the teacher's office at 837 'H' Street.

  • March 3–14, 2008 – Physical Fitness Testing
  • March 4, 2008 – California Standards Writing Test 7th Grade
  • March 5, 2008 – Make Up California Standards Writing Test 7th Grade
  • March 5, 2008 – Constitution Re-Test – Cafeteria (2:00)
  • March 6, 2008 – Math Bowl – Cafeteria & Rm 620, 600 Building (Lunch hour for students changed to 5th period).
  • March 6, 2008 – Concert Band and Orchestra Concert – Cafeteria (6:00)
  • March 8, 2008 - MS/DS Honor Band/Orchestra Auditions & Rehearsals (Café/Band Rooms)
  • Cell phones, IPods’, any electronic devices, etc; are not allowed at school.  If these items are taken from you they will be returned to your parents the first time, any further incidents will result in them being kept until the end of the school year.
  • Next Perfect Attendance drawing will be February 29th, so keep coming to school.
  • ALL Yearbook club members needs to meet Monday 2/25 rm. 466 after school for a quick meeting.
  • Girls and boys softball tryouts begin today Monday through Thursday afterschool at 2:00 bring your own glove if you have one.  You must have at least a 2.0 GPA from the semester report card to be eligible to play.
  • Chess Club, Monday and Thursday, after school, 2-3 pm, Rm 467.  If you want the Chess Club to pay your tournament entry fees you must attend the meetings!
  • Library will be closed from 8:00 - 11:45 on Friday, February 29.
  • March 10, 2008 – Honor Concert Final Rehearsal – Rabobank (9:00 am). Honor Concert  – Rabobank (7:00 pm)
  • March 13, 2008 – History Night Showcase – Cafeteria (7:30)
  • March 14, 2008 – Regional Track Meet
  • March 17 – 24, 2008 – Spring Break – No School
