This Week at Chipman: April 7, 2008

  • 7th Graders eat first this week.
  • Do you plan on going to college?  Do you think it is too soon to start thinking about college?  The reality is that it is never too soon.  If you are interested in attending "College: Making It Happen" on April 19th at Bakersfield College, see Mrs. Dinsmore.
  • Report cards went home Friday March 28.
  • From the Vice Principal:  Please remember that the length of your shorts/skirts must be arms length at your sides.  When wearing tights under your clothes the item on the top, the shorts/skirt must follow the arms length rule.  You may not wear shorts/skirts on the top of tights that are too short to be worn to school.  Tank tops need to have at minimum 2 inches on the straps and provide proper coverage of undergarments.
  • Highland High School Freshmen (9th grade next school year) pre-registration will be Thursday April 10, at 4:30 to 7:30 pm in Highland High School Cafeteria.  At this time you are required to bring your PG&E bill as proof of address.
  • East High School Freshmen (9th grade next school year) pre-registration will be Monday March 31st at 6:00 pm in East High School auditorium.  You will need to bring a verification of residency (a current utility bill with parent/guardian name on it) with you to register.
  • Bakersfield High School Freshmen (9th grade next school year) parent/student orientation will be Monday April 21st at 7:00 pm in the Harvey Auditorium. Pre-registration will be Tuesday April 29th from 3:30 – 6:00 pm in Bakersfield High School Cafeteria (southwest corner of 14th & “F” Street).  You will need the most recent PG&E bill as proof of address.
  • You may attend a sports game here at Chipman if....
    1. You attend with your parents.
    2. You have a 4.0 card.
    3. You have at least a 3.0.
  • Lunchtime math tutoring in room #620 on Wednesdays.  All grades welcome.
  • Migrant tutoring Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in Room 440 from 2:00- 3:00.
  • After School Tutoring Tuesday and Thursday – Rooms 620, 630, 640, 650, 670, and 680.
  • The Student Store is a privilege to have.  If everyone would like the Student Store to continue to sell items, everyone must keep Chipman’s campus CLEAN!  Please through away trash in the trash cans.  If the campus continues to be littered with trash, the Student Store will close permanently.
  • April 17, 2008 – BCSD Track Meet – BC – (4:00)
  • There are a limited amount of 2007-2008 yearbooks left.  They will be for sale for $40.00 Cash only in rm. 466.  First come first serve!
  • Boys & Girls Softball practice Monday, Wednesday and Thursday at 2:00 pm.
  • Boys & Girls Softball Game against Washington Tuesday April 8 at 2:45 pm at Washington.
  • Track team Practices Tuesdays through Thursdays after school.
  • April 7-11, 2008 Aprenda/3 Test for 8th Grade English Learners.
  • Tuesday April 8, 2008 School Site Council Meeting – Library (2:00)
  • April 14–16, 2008 - Aprenda/3 8th Grade
  • April 21-May 2, 2008 – STAR Testing (CST 7-8, CAT/6-7)
