Principal's Connection

May -----, 2018 Dear Parents/Guardians: It is a pleasure and an honor to announce that effective the 2018-2019 school year I will be serving as the new Principal of Chipman Jr. High. Chipman Jr. High enjoys a rich history of academic, athletic, and cultural excellence that is the result of a collegial partnership between the school staff, parents, and the community who provide a diversity of experiences for the students. I am truly honored to be joining the Chipman Jr. High family and am looking forward to working with you and the dedicated staff to continue the tradition of excellence of our school. Before coming to Chipman Jr. High, I served our district as Principal and Vice Principal of Sierra Middle School and have done so since February 2001. And just like Chipman Jr. High, we took on a child-centered approach to creating the best educational program for students. Both schools have environments where parents and staff work collaboratively each day to shape the futures of our students. I am very excited to continue this work at Chipman Jr. High and look forward to partnering with you in the many important tasks to come. As Principal of Chipman Jr. High, I am committed to ensuring that our educational program is academically challenging, that it engages each student by linking new learning to previous knowledge and experiences, and that it also excites our students by promoting exploration of new and creative ideas. We will also invest time, effort, and resources to build systems and structures that offers differentiated instruction and supports to meet the needs of each student to the best of our ability. Parents, teachers, support staff, and administration all have an important role to encourage our children to become active learners and to offer expanded opportunities for our students to acquire the necessary 21st century skills to be college or career ready after high school. In closing, I would like to thank you in advance for our future partnership. My door will always be open so feel free to stop by at any time. Have a great summer and I look forward to meeting everyone in the fall. Sincerely, Tomas Prieto Chipman Jr. High Principal
